When I was a little girl, I had a dream: to be an author and write wonderful stories like Astrid Lindgren. Stories about strong girls, mischievous yet kind boys, and the kind of bravery that arises because life is difficult, not despite it.
Later, I wanted to be a journalist. I filled empty sheets of newspaper from my dad’s printing factory with images, articles, and homemade crossword puzzles. I even studied journalism and business. But only one of those two passions survived the transition into professional life.
Like every child, I lived with an unlimited well of creativity. A source of imagination that felt like a magical forest. Over time, that forest slowly turned into a highway: fast, efficient, goal-oriented. Forest visible in passing. Pause as an inconvenient necessity. Creativity only if “productive.”
And then, in the past weeks, something surprising happened: writing pulled me back into the forest. I found myself in a state I hadn’t visited in years: flow.

Parallax. The effect by which the position or direction of an object appears to change when the object is seen from different positions (Oxford Learner’s Dictionary).
I came across the word while on one of my rabbit hole journeys through the social media multiverse. Because, dear gentle readers, I don’t consume certain media, I obsess about them.
Hence, my algorithm gifted me with a cinematographic deconstruction of a scene, explaining the camera work and how it supports the impact of storytelling.

I was riding my bicycle through a park. It was majestic. The sun was shining, golden leaves were everywhere, and the light breeze was rippling over the surface of the little creek and into my face.
“I should film this to share on social media,” I thought. And plop, a little golden leaf hit me right between my eyes and stayed stuck to my head.
As if to say: “Hey, I am right here! Enjoy me with your full attention!”
